Plain English workshop on 1 October


This workshop will introduce you to the benefits and key concepts of plain English. You’ll learn how apply the principles of plain English to improve the language, structure and accessibility of documents and websites. You will also have the opportunity to work through practical examples of applying plain English. We’re delighted to partner with QA Services for this workshop.

Time: 10am-12noon. For this Zoom session, you’ll need good internet, a microphone and, if possible, a webcam. You’ll also need pen and paper to take notes. After you book, we’ll send you the link and password.



Learn how to:

  • Write in a suitable style and tone of voice for your target audiences
  • Present information with impact
  • Make complex information clear and concise
  • Make every word count and cut ‘dead wood’
  • Take care with jargon, technical terms, ‘business speak’ etc.
  • Use strong, precise, active verbs
  • Create effective sentences and paragraphs
  • Use signposts (headings, bullet lists, frontloading) for accessibility
